They expect you to be at their beck and call 24 hour a day. They accept any kind of business and do not care about the quality. The Director belittles you if you try to tell him what your department is capable of where it will likely fall short. The manager looks at life through the bottom of a beer bottle. You go above and beyond it's not rewarded, it's just expected. And I guess the pay is pretty decent for a younger individual or a college student. Overall I think the job is great for someone who is looking for part time work or a student because it is a 24 hour operation and they can usually find hours that work with you. Management will tell you how much they appreciate you and how great of a job your doing but you never really see any compensation for it. The more seasoned workers are left with the more difficult tasks because the turn over rate is high and they are always having to train new people. The work itself is not even that difficult, it's just very repetitious and can become stressful. The job is not strenuous at all because you're sitting at a computer staring at computer screens for hours. The only people that get "raises" are the full time employees even if the part time workers go above and beyond and have a better attitude with a better work ethic. You see the same alarms and have to call the same people and answer the same gates to allow rude people into the communities that you monitor. As a video analyst you'll find yourself doing pretty much the same thing every time you come on shift.
